Tanglewood Park Trails are a great if you are looking for a good place to walk, a leisure bike ride, or more extreme off road biking in Clemmons , just southwest of Winston Salem. The large figure eight loop provides a change in scenery and variable trail lengths. Tanglewood Park is located just off I-40 at Exit 182.
Tanglewood Park Trails - History
The Tanglewood Park Trails are part of Tanglewood. Tanglewood was the estate of the Johnson family in the 1700s and was initially marked by their home and neighborhood fort. Many years later the family sold the estate to Will Reynolds, brother of R.J. Reynolds. The property was developed and expanded with an emphasis horses and gardening. The Reynolds family donated the estate to Forsyth County as a place of recreation. Today the Tanglewood Park features a golf course , gardens , stables, horse pastures , bmx tracks , biking trials , walking/mulit-use trails , dog parks , a pool , Bed & Breakfast , tennis , and campground.
Tanglewood Park Trails - Paved and Off Road
The Tanglewood Park walking & multi-use trails surround most of the off road trails and pass by the dog park , campground, and stables. The trails are paved ten foot wide for a leisure stroll, scooter ride, or biking. The off road trails are used by mountain bikes and cross country runners. Most of the trails are shaded depending on the time of year and time of day. You can find a map of the trails on the county website for the trails.
