One of the best off leash dog parks in Forsyth County
is TangleWoof Dog Park
in Tanglewood.
TangleWoof is split into two sections for large dogs and small dogs. The grassy areas are well maintained and dogs have plenty of room to run, play, and socialize with other dogs. As with most dog parks
the most important ingredient is the owners present to supervise their dogs which TangleWoof has in good supply. If you are looking for a great place to bring your pooch you may want to give TangleWoof a try.
TangleWoof Dog Park - Off Leash Setup
The entrance to the park has gates for the large and small dog areas. The large dog area is for dogs over 25 lbs and give them 1.75 acres of space. The small dog area is 0.6 acres for pups under 25 lbs. Each section has double entry gates to reduce the chance of escape and allow owners to remove their dog’s leash before meeting other dogs. The fields are surrounded in a coated high link fence.
For owners and dogs alike there are water fountains available at the tanglewood dog park although most people bring their own. Park benches are setup along the perimeter as a place for owners to sit. Covered garbage cans are available inside and outside the park for garbage and dog waste.
TangleWoof Dog Park - Experience
Weekends are busy days at the park, especially if the weather is nice. Weekdays can be more sparse and you may find only a handful of dogs and owners with plenty of room for your dog to run and play. If the weather has been rainy there are some areas that can get a little soppy on the backside of the large dog area, but nothing a quick rinse at home can’t take care of depending on how your dog likes to play. Our dog is a runner and with no mudflaps her belly can and will get coated with mud on a rainy week.
One of the main ingredients that matters in an off leash dog park is the dogs and owners present. While the dogs and owners present change each hour and day the vast majority of owners are responsible pet owners. Every once in awhile I’ve seen a dog will get a bit excited or nippy the owners have always jumped in to ensure their dog is behaving or removed. We initially decided to bring our dog to Tanglewood because of the great reviews we found.
