The Ardmore neighborhood was initially developed in the 30's and 40's during an industry boom in Winston Salem. At the time Winston Salem was the largest city in the state. Reynolds Tobacco (Reynolds American) and Hanes Hosiery (Hanes Brands) were expanding and Ardmore served as a place for people to live between Reynolds downtown and Hanes off Stratford Rd. Ardmore has continued to be a desirable place to live due to the charming diversity of styles, access to parks, and proximity to downtown, shopping, and hospitals. Many medical professionals call Ardmore home as the area is nestled between Wake Forest Baptist teaching hospital and Novant Hospital off Silas Creek Parkway.
